SACRAMENTO, CA- Capitol Advocacy, consistently ranked as one of the top California lobbying firms, announces Edward J. Rendon has joined the firm’s lobbying team. Until recently, Rendon was the Director of Public Affairs for the Teamsters Joint Council 42 in Los Angeles.
“Ed brings nearly two decades of government relations and political expertise to Capitol Advocacy,” said John Latimer, Managing Partner. “His experience as a leader in Southern California politics will be a tremendous asset for our clients.”
For the past 16 years, Rendon managed the Teamsters’ Southern California political spending and campaign involvement. In that time, he helped elect dozens of political leaders at the local, state and federal level. Rendon will expand Capitol Advocacy’s presence in Southern California. In addition to his role with Capitol Advocacy, he will continue to be a partner with the Los Angeles-based government relations firm, Spiker Group Consulting.
“Ed has been a political presence – and force – in the Los Angeles area for many years,” said Cesar Diaz, Legislative & Political Director for the State Building & Construction Trades Council AFL-CIO. “His collaboration with Capitol Advocacy will bring even more insight about Southern California’s political dynamic to Sacramento.”
“Capitol Advocacy is our key strategic partner in delivering results for our organization. Ed’s strategic experience will be a valuable addition to their outstanding advocacy team and we look forward to his leadership in building relationships between labor, business and policymakers on critically important issues,” said Rob Lapsley, President, California Business Roundtable.
“Joining Capitol Advocacy is a culmination of 16 years spent spearheading government affairs and politics for the largest private sector union in California,” said Rendon. “I’m excited to bring my problem-solving experience to the firm and our clients.”
Rendon’s many other accomplishments include helping to create the San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance (SGVCA) in 2010, a regional business advocacy organization specializing in multi-sector collaboratives and public private partnerships. As chairman, he crafted the SGVCA into a coalition-building powerhouse. Rendon has also served as the ‘Senate ProTem’s’ appointee to the California Employment Training Panel in Sacramento for more than a decade. His other civic engagements include: California Board of Optometry, Los Angeles City Workforce Investment Board, San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board, Vernon Business Advisory Committee, ELAC Foundation Board of Directors, AIPAC National Council, UCLA Labor Center Advisor, and the Los Angeles Trade Tech Labor Center faculty.
Rendon is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and earned a Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in Guidance & Counseling.
