
After two decades of successful nationwide political and public policy work, John Latimer founded Capitol Advocacy in 1999. Using exceptional process skills and personal relationships throughout government, John helps elected officials, businesses, and private industry tackle complex California policy issues.
Recognized for his strength in strategic planning and coordination of effective public relations efforts, John handles an array of issues including tax policy and infrastructure finance, alcoholic beverage policy, environmental regulation and utility de-regulation. He has a robust client base that includes some of the world’s largest manufacturing, food and beverage, and retail companies.
Prior to establishing Capitol Advocacy, John spent 10 years as a senior staff member in the California State Legislature. His assignments included chief consultant to the minority on the Assembly Appropriations Committee, chief consultant to the Assembly Governmental Organization Committee, consultant to the Assembly Transportation Committee and chief of staff for a member of the Assembly.
John received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and a Masters in Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Sacramento. He lives in Elk Grove with his wife Kelly and their three daughters Julia, Claire and Emily.
